Amani Pamoja (Peace Together)

A capacity building partnership for youth-led peace advocacy

AMANI PAMOJA

This project establishes a learning partnership of youth peacebuilding organisations across six countries to strengthen advocacy and policy dialogue capacities, promote youth participation in peace and security spaces, and advance the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agenda in line with the EU Action Plan. Through two cross-continental youth exchanges and national-level youth participation activities, the project supports young people to act as advocates, co-leaders, and visible agents of peace.

Overview

Youth organisations play a crucial role in strengthening civic competencies and enabling meaningful youth participation, yet they often face challenges in sustaining inclusive engagement, particularly for young people with fewer opportunities. Opportunities for exchange among youth organisations remain limited.

Project objective

The project aims to establish a cross-continental learning partnership among youth-led and youth-focused organisations in Europe and East Africa to exchange experiences and good practices in advancing the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agenda. It seeks to strengthen the advocacy and policy dialogue capacities of young leaders and their organisations, enabling them to influence YPS-related policies, while promoting meaningful youth participation in peace and security spaces through structured dialogue with policymakers at local and national levels. The project also aims to raise awareness of youth-led peacebuilding efforts and existing enabling frameworks, including the EU Youth Strategy, the EU Youth Action Plan in External Action, and the YPS agenda.

Project milestones

The Kick-off Meeting, held on 1 December, marked the formal launch of the project and the presentation of its main milestones. The key project milestones are as follows:
