CALL FOR ARTICLES 2020

AP is excited to launch a call for panelists for the Bologna Peacebuilding Forum 2020. The BPF is an annual international event that fosters dialogue and exchanges between researchers and practitioners in the field of peacebuilding. Titled “Peacebuilding in 2030. Challenges and opportunities of the next decade”, the BPF 2020 will take place Tuesday, March 31, 2020, from 9.30 am to 6 pm at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS Europe) in Bologna, Italy.

With the call we welcome contributions by early-career practitioners and graduate or undergraduate students.

The call requires the presentation of a research project, a peacebuilding initiative, conference presentation or any idea or proposal, which is relevant to the topics of the BPF 2020, in a short article of 800 words. We would also like to know more about the authors: who you are and what issues you are working on. A brief resume or a CV is also required.

Selected articles will be posted on the website of Agency for Peacebuilding, www.peaceagency.org, which caters to an international audience of peacebuilding and international development experts.

AP will select one paper for each topic (see below) and will invite the author to the BPF and its collateral events for networking. Selected panelists will give a presentation during the relevant panel at the PBF. To this effect, we intend to have three thematic panels as follows.

Focus Issues:

The Forum will focus on three issues, and for each there will be a dedicated panel.

The three panels are the following:

  1. Heating up: peacebuilding and climate change

Focus question: How can we address the linkages between environment, fragility and conflict?

  • The peace-mobility nexus

Focus question: How does human mobility affect peace and conflict dynamics?

  • The future of peacebuilding

Focus questions: Is peace still a priority for the international community? How can peacebuilding mobilize public opinion in an age of security?

Submission Guidelines:

The articles that we are looking for should be around 800 words and should address the aforementioned questions and engage with the thematic issues chosen for the BPF 2020. Articles should be written in an accessible way, avoiding too much technical jargon (including acronyms), given the interdisciplinarity of the topic. Please use hyperlinks to reference other sources.

Please send your drafts or questions at s.marinelli@peaceagency.org.

The selection of projects and panelists will be the sole responsibility of the Agency for Peacebuilding, which will assess submitted ideas based on relevance, content and quality. Authors of chosen articles will be duly credited. For any questions, please write to s.marinelli@peaceagency.org.

Submit your 800-words project and your resume by 28 February 2020 to s.marinelli@peaceagency.org.

We will get in touch for the publication of your articles on our website starting March 2020.
