Advocacy and capacity building

Peacebuilding is an evolving field. As new challenges emerge, so must the tools and skills to address them.

At the Agency for Peacebuilding, we believe sustainable peace depends not only on action in the field, but also on strong systems, informed professionals, and inclusive dialogue. Our advocacy and capacity-building work strengthens the foundations of peace by equipping individuals, institutions, and communities with the knowledge and support needed to navigate and transform conflict.

When training is paired with long-term support and linked to institutional change, it becomes capacity building. Our programmes are designed for practitioners in the international development and humanitarian sectors—within both governmental and non-governmental organisations—who need practical tools to understand, monitor, and respond to conflict dynamics.

We deliver this work through:

  • Specialised training and workshops
  • Accompaniment and advisory support
  • Contributions to academic courses and conferences
  • Facilitation and mediation processes
  • Empowerment activities with communities affected by violence

In contexts where there is a clear need or a direct request from those experiencing conflict, we work closely with local actors to design and support peacebuilding initiatives that are context-specific, participatory, and grounded in local realities.

Through this work, we advocate for peace-centred policies and practices, elevate local voices, and foster resilience in the face of violence and division.
