Report: Italy and Peace Mediation

Launched at the 2024 Bologna Peacebuilding Forum, this report aims to analyse the unique role Italy can play as a mediator in both Europe, and on an international level amongst the transforming global context. Further, this report contributes to developing Italy’s full potential as an active contributor to the international peace and stability architecture.

The report offers recommendations such as:
– Build trust and invest in joint capabilities between civil society organisations and institutions
– Establish an Italian mediation support structure
-Invest in a hybrid model of the mediation support structure
-Strengthen training in peace mediation

The report has been published with the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International
Cooperation, according to Art. 23-bis of Presidential Decree 18/1967.
